Monday Game Films

Once football season began, every Monday afternoon practice started with the team gathering to watch films from the previous Friday night’s football game. These films were shot on old 35 mm reels by Wes Burrell, a longtime friend of Coach Maskill. Wes and Coach stayed close through the years, and Mrs. Burrell served as the G-A High School librarian.

Considering the number of seasons during Coach’s tenure at G-A High, the volume of these films is remarkably large. Over time, after Coach retired, many former players would come up and say, “Hey Coach, do you still have my team film from back in …?” Those requests always brought a smile — each reel held a story, a memory, and a piece of Ram history.

If you have any information, photos, or copies of these old game films — or know where some might still be stored — please share your details using the contact form below. Every clue helps us preserve another piece of G-A football history and Coach Maskill’s lasting legacy.
